SPIRIT OF THE NATION TALENT SHOWS

In an effort to unearth dormant performing talent from within the parishes, Parish Talent Shows are held in the Northern, Central and Southern Zones.  Through these shows, the best act from each parish advances to the Parish Talent Segment of the Spirit of the Nation Show. 

Performers’ Guidelines: 

1. All participants must reside in the parish they are representing. In the case of an institution or group, they will represent the parish that the institution or group is located. 

2. There is no age limit for participants in the Spirit of the Nation Show Talent Segment. 

3. Performers will only be allowed to perform piece per year at the zonal level. 

4. Each act will be allotted a maximum of 3½ minutes and a penalty will be instituted for acts performing over the stipulated time. For each minute over the stipulated time, there will be a deduction of two points. 

5. Persons will be judged in the following disciplines, song, dance, drama, poetry and any unique form of entertainment. 

6. The call-time for rehearsals will be one hour prior to the starting time.

The Spirit of the Nation Talent Show Guidelines: 

In addition to items 1-6 of the performers’ guidelines the following must apply: 

• Two weeks’ notice is required for changes to any act or performance. 

• All Compact Disks (CDs) must be submitted to the Secretariat two weeks prior to the show. 

• Any additions/changes to the technical requirement, as stated on the Parish Talent registration form, must be communicated to the Secretariat two weeks prior to the date of the grand rehearsal. 

• All Parish Talent representatives must attend grand rehearsals.  Failure to attend without adequate notification or an acceptable excuse will result in the disqualification of the specific act from participation in the show.

The following awards and prize monies will be given: 

Spirit of the Nation Award - $1000.00 

2^nd Place - $800.00 

3^rd Place - $600.00 

Most Original - $500.00 

Most Impactful - $500.00 

An Incentive Award- This award will be done in consultation with the judges and given to the recipient(s) whom the judges believe will benefit most from additional training in their respective discipline.  This award is not directly linked to the winning categories and may not necessarily be awarded every year.   This award will be given at the annual Awards Ceremony.
